Mix Of Rental Drapes Are Perfect Background For Old Dominion Benefit Concert

By |October 29th, 2019|Clients, News, Products|0 Comments

Feeling an enormous amount of pride to be a truly “Made In The USA” company, Sew What?/Rent What? feels especially privileged to be a part of important charity projects right here in America, wherever and whenever possible.  Recently we were humbled and honored to again work with renowned Production Manager Matt Anderson by providing him and his team with some gorgeous rental drapes for a stage he needed to help design for a vital, be a part of the incredible charity event spearheaded by Matthew Ramsey from the gifted contemporary American country music band Old Dominion, called “Nashville Night in Buchanan.”

This significant—and much anticipated—annual event originated in 2011, and benefits Buchanan Area Ministerial Association (BAMA) Food Pantry and other areas in need in Botetourt County. Matthew Ramsey, as well as all of the talented members of the Old Dominion band, brought an evening of fantastic music and lots of laughs back to his hometown of Buchanan, Virginia. Organized as a songwriters’ round to give back to the local community, the event also stars Old Dominion’s Trevor Rosen and Brad Tursi as well as Nashville songwriters Matt Jenkins, Josh Osborne and Shane McAnally. Additionally, the event benefits the Ramsey Foundation, which was created to provide resources to organizations working in rural communities. Their focus is helping to meet daily life needs as well as the enrichment of cultural arts. In addition, they seek to bring awareness to the disparities of cultural arts resources and opportunities in rural communities. That is why benefits like Nashville Night in Buchanan are so critical to help fund the aid programs that are so urgently needed in communities like theirs in Virginia.

Providing Matt Anderson and his team with beautiful and dramatic stage drapes was a great way to give the event some real pizzazz! Starting with lightweight and exquisite Pewter Textura pleated legs from our Timeless and Traditional Drapery Collection, they topped it off with our magnificent Smokey Pearl Swagged Border from our Silver Satin Collection. These drapes all light up extremely well, making them particularly versatile with colorful lighting schemes splashed onto them. Mixing and matching striking curtains from our various drapery collections is a fantastic way to create a stunning and completely unique stage design, no matter the size. Both types of drapery are made from exquisite and versatile IFR fabrics, which also offers peace of mind for the production staff, too.

Those of us at Rent What? couldn’t have been more thrilled with how spectacular their stage design turned out—as you can see by these photos. We were so pleased to have been a part of this extraordinarily crucial benefit for the very deserving people in those communities–we love being able to help our clients build dazzling production and stage designs all over the country! Contact one of our helpful account managers today and let us assist you with fashioning the most amazing stage design for your upcoming special event, with either lovely rental drapes, remarkable custom drapes, or a fabulous combination of both.

Unique Configuration Of Digitally Printed Drapes Showcased On Global Rock Tour

By |October 21st, 2019|Digital Printing, Projects|1 Comment

Having a concert tour means making sure that your stage goods are easy to transport, are simple to hang up, are flame certified ….and yet that they will still “pack a visual punch” for your audiences to truly enjoy from show to show. We were thrilled to get to work with renowned Lighting Director and Production Manager for the post-punk, American indie-rock band Interpol, Christian Lincoln, on just such a project earlier this year. He came to us looking for some digitally printed stage curtains that the tour’s team wanted us to custom build for the group’s eagerly anticipated upcoming international tour.

Christian wanted these custom digitally printed drapes to depict the unmistakable branding from the cover of their most recent album, Marauder, which needed a specific color, font, and style to the lettering. To give it a more interesting and attention-grabbing appeal, he also wanted to split the band’s name across three independent drapes—the main center drape and two adjacent legs. This way they could hang them at alternate intervals and at assorted distances from one another, to gain some added dimension to the tour’s stage design at their various-sized venues while on the road.

Printed on FR Heavy Knit, these drapes are working out wonderfully on their tour because they are fairly wrinkle resistant and so they travel really well. Furthermore, they have fabulously rich and photo-friendly (matte) surface which makes them fantastic for capturing incredible moments on stage, like these stunning images that various talented photographers have already taken on this tour (showcased in our new Flickr Gallery).

Turn on the bright lights

With dramatic stage décor and absolutely spectacular lighting elements, this tour’s overall design is exceptionally remarkable from beginning to end. Adding in the gorgeous harmonies, engaging rhythmic guitars and drums, and brilliant songwriting from all members of the band, this is a concert tour that won’t soon be forgotten. You can still check them out this summer and fall, and experience this talented and distinctive band live in person for yourself! And do not hesitate to contact one of our helpful sales reps to see how we can help you create the most striking custom soft goods for your own upcoming special event or concert production, too.

Dynamic Digitally Printed Backdrop Electrifies At Shows Both Indoors And Out

By |October 15th, 2019|Digital Printing, Projects|0 Comments

Earlier this summer, we were very excited to work renowned Production Manager Dustin Reynolds again, who was looking for a new digitally-printed backdrop for an upcoming tour of the incredible American country band Sugarland. He wanted something that would be dynamic and vibrant, yet durable and tour-friendly. It was critical that the drapery be certified flame retardant, yet also still be able to “withstand the elements” at all of the festivals and arenas that the band was planning to perform at over the summer.

He decided to have Sew What? custom-build them a dramatic and versatile 30’h x 50’w curtain out of lightweight, durable, and flexible polyester-coated FR Vinyl Mesh (blow-through). With this fantastic printable substrate, the tour could be confident that the backdrop would be able to withstand possible wind and other weather elements during their outdoor shows, and look clear, crisp, and fabulous at indoor venues, too. With webbing, grommets, and ties along the top, and reinforced grommets along the sides and bottom hems, they would be able to secure this drape to any type of unique structure, truss, or frame that their tour’s venues might have. With an incredibly dazzling graphic design made of stripes of black and white, they were able to distinctly light it up with all kinds of colorful theatrical lighting schemes–giving the drape a completely different and memorable look for each song set.

Dustin’s design team and the band was absolutely thrilled with the end result, as were Sugarland’s adoring audiences all over the country. Check out some gorgeous photos on our new Flickr Gallery taken by the super talented band photographer Shannon Guest (@ShannonGuestPhotography), and you can see the many striking looks that the tour’s lighting team were able to achieve for the band’s exceptional stage design. Custom-building a digitally printed drape, banner, border, leg, and backdrop is an easy and surefire way to really excite and amaze the guests at your event. Ice Cream Social Gives Staff A Delicious Summer Afternoon Treat

By |October 8th, 2019|Company, Rent What Team, Sew What Team|0 Comments

As you very likely know by now, we here at Sew What? Inc. love social gatherings, and getting the opportunity to relax and hang out with one other both professionally as well as socially. And we especially enjoy when we get to share a good meal or a delicious snack together, too!

Recently we were thrilled to once again enjoy the delectable ice cream stylings of King Kone Ice Cream truck with our 2019 Ice Cream Social. This amazing ice cream desert company came to our warehouse to perfectly serve the entire SW Staff, along with our wonderful neighbors from Lowy Enterprises, some incredibly refreshing, creamy, tasty ice cream delights.

We were able to choose from a wide variety of incredibly mouthwatering options from their menu—or have them custom build us a luscious treat to order. From malts to milkshakes, to banana splits to hot fudge sundaes, to rainbow colored shaved ice, to ice cream sandwiches—there was literally something for every particular taste and unique craving that we could come up with.

And with new and scrumptious flavors like Koo Koo For Coconut, Rocky Mountain, Almond Jubilee, and Sea Salted chocolate dipped coatings, everyone was completely ecstatic with their afternoon sugar-fest.

Even company pooch Crispin got in on the action, and made sure to check out everyone’s dessert and see if there was anything he could do to “help” keep the area clean and tidy, and free from any fallen peanut topping or cone crumb that may have accidentally fallen.

Having a few minutes to goof off with one another and devour an ice cold treat on a hot summer’s day is one of the reasons that working at Sew What is so much fun. Social events like these are a great way to keep our energy levels up during busy tour and holiday season “rushes”, and we always appreciate what owner Megan Duckett generously gives to both her staff, and our neighboring businesses, on a regular basis.
