Joining the Team

By |March 12th, 2013|Authors, Company|4 Comments

I wanted to take a moment and introduce myself, as I am the newest member of the team at Sew What. I am joining the group here as the new Purchasing Agent. I bring with me over 9 years of purchasing, shipping and logistics experience within the Special Event / Entertainment Industry, specifically custom stage curtains and other soft goods. I am excited to be joining such a warm and talented group of people. I look forward to engaging with each of them to ensure we surpass all of our client’s needs and expectations. I enjoy the creative side of the business and the unique challenges each project brings.

I had taken a few years off from purchasing to pursue an interest in the pharmaceutical industry and have since rejoined the industry here at Sew What. I would like to thank everyone here at Sew What for giving me the opportunity to continue my passion / career.

Celebrating Diversity in Business

By |March 8th, 2013|Company, News|0 Comments

We were proud here at Sew What? Inc. to learn recently that we were selected as a 2013 Top Business by DiversityBusiness.com, in which we are described as being “among the ranks of innovators and visionaries that have earned the distinction of leading, growing and fostering a culture of sustainable growth among the businesses and communities you serve. ”  We have been recognized with this award in several prior years, including 2009 and 2012, and it is great to once again be recognized.

It is so important to us to continue to grow and improve and innovate, rather than rest on our laurels, and so it is gratifying to see our efforts recognized by organizations such as DiversityBusiness.com.

Stardrop LED Drape Sparkles Up Church Production

By |March 5th, 2013|Clients, News, Projects|0 Comments

Recently Rent What? Inc. was excited to provide a dazzling and versatile 15’h x 30’w LED Stardrop rental drape to Rolling Hills Covenant Church for their amazing Christmas production. Called “A Celtic Christmas Celebration: Season of Joy”, they filled their church with wonderful Irish music, dancers, instruments, and culture. We were thrilled to be a part of this special performance with our velvety and twinkly LED Stardrop drape as the main backdrop for their production.

They layered a white scrim in front of our Stardrop when not lit, to help with the element of surprise during one of their opening scenes. And having their scrim illuminated with various color combinations in front of our Stardrop when it was all lit up and sparkling helped create the illusion of several unique and spectacular backdrops throughout the show. This is a perfect example that you can layer drapes of ALL SORTS to help make your show a stunning success, and give it a fresh and new look every time. Photographer Rick Stipa took some fantastic photos of the multiple performances during the production, which helps showcase our gorgeous drape beautifully.

Kenny Chesney Digital Backdrops Throughout the Years

By |March 1st, 2013|Clients, Digital Printing, Products|0 Comments

About this time every year, for the past five+ years, we have been pleased to be selected to provide digitally printed backdrops for the tour of Kenny Chesney.  Each year the image is different, though the size remains roughly the same at 40′ h x 76′ w, creating a massive and dramatic visual image.

I have posted several times about Kenny Chesney digital backdrops, but in previous posts I have focused on a single year’s project.  Now, though, I have the opportunity to share a number of images showing many of the backdrops we have digitally printed and sewn for Kenny Chesney over the years.  Recently, Megan Duckett created a photo gallery on the Rent What? Flickr account showcasing the Kenny Chesney Tour Digitally Printed Backdrops manufactured by Sew What? Inc.

Flickr Photo Galleries are a great way to bring together photos on the same subject from a wide range of photographers – from professional photographers to concert-goers using cell phone cameras – while still retaining appropriate linking and credit to the photographer who posted the photo to Flickr.

Megan searched through Flickr and was able to find fourteen photos of the Kenny Chesney Tour digital backdrops.  She then compiled them into this great photo gallery.

I highly recommend you check it out (link below) – it is a terrific way to see a wide range of digital backdrops in a single gallery.

I love being able to see so many of them in one place – the photos bring back a lot of memories!
