Today, all of us at Rent What? and Sew What? hope that you are having a joyous Christmas Day. Here at work, we celebrated a couple of weeks early so that everyone could attend the holiday party (naturally, many people chose to take vacation days closer to the holiday).
One of the creeds that we here at Rent What? and Sew What? try to live by is to always work very hard—but then remember to play hard, too! This year’s Christmas Celebration was no exception to that rule of thumb, as everyone got to spend some truly fun time together eating and dancing away the stresses of the past year. To start things off right we had another deliciously catered meal with traditional turkey and ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing, grilled veggies, rolls, and of course lots of decadent desserts and cheesecakes to choose from. It was definitely a meal to remember!
No one thought we’d be able to move at all so soon after that amazing meal, but our favorite DJ, Michael from Ovation Entertainment, was not going to let us sit around for very long. He had all of us playing all sorts of games and contests, and before we knew it everyone was up and running around trying to win a prize. Offering everybody great party favors and loads of fun props always puts everyone in a very festive and excited mood, and no one gets us all to start dancing like fools in front of the entire staff like Michael does. Getting us all to do the YMCA and several types of popular line dancing is a wonderful way for those of us who are “dance-floor challenged” to join in the fun, too. Some of the staff got up for some impromptu singing, some were brave enough to do the limbo and musical chairs, and several of the warehouse staff even joined together to dance to Psy’s “Gangnam Style,” which were all parts of the party that none of us will ever forget!
Throwing these wonderfully fun and extremely generous parties for the staff is one of the things we all love so much at working for such a great company, and we all look forward to them year after year. We are definitely part of a “family of Whatters” here, and these events really help remind us that all the hard work we do is really appreciated by management, and there isn’t a better feeling in the world than that!
