Without Warning at St Rocke

By |November 28th, 2012|Authors, Company, News|2 Comments

Hey there fans and friends of Sew What? and Rent What?!

Just an update to remind you that our very own Megan Duckett will again be rockin’ some Prog Rock Classics with the band WITHOUT WARNING this holiday season exclusively at St. Rocke in Hermosa Beach!

This Friday, November 30th, catch her and the band at 9:00PM performing with Bonfire (AC/DC tribute), Metal 101, and Jay Stevens. PS – For those that are local, mention “WW Rocks” at the door for discount tickets. Come early and enjoy some great happy hour treats or a delicious meal in this fine rock n’ roll palace!

But wait, there’s more!

Sunday, December 9th, the band will be starting especially early at 7:00PM with a special “unplugged” acoustic set of prog-rock standards, opening for none other than Don Dokken, and The Bullet Boys!! This will prove to be a one-of-a-kind evening you don’t want to miss!

But wait, there’s more!

Just kidding. That’s it for rock and roll this month folks – as there has got to be plenty of time for softgoods and drapes amongst the musical merriment!

If you have some time check out the band’s footage on their website or visit their Facebook page and give them some support! Those of you who know Bob Hughes of ALL ACCESS STAGING will love to learn that he is indeed Without Warning’s drummer pounding out those Dream Theatre beats. “We love YOU Bob Hughes”!

Rock Harder people.

Layer Stage Drapes for a Unique Look: Part 1A

By |November 27th, 2012|Products, Projects|0 Comments

I wanted to offer a follow-up to the first blog entry in our new “Layering Series” of rental drapes, involving our gorgeous Silver Satin Drapery Series. As we’ve said before, these drapes are extremely versatile and durable, and can layer easily with drapes from any of our other collections. But they are also some of the most stunning drapes we’ve ever created in and of themselves. They reflect light beautifully, and can help create the most unique and memorable look for your stage, transforming your concert, production, or other special event into something unforgettable.

We’ve had the honor of having these rental theatrical drapes completely rocked by such artists as Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood, and the Cranberries. Check out our new YouTube video presentation of these drapes and you will see all of this for yourself!

Rent What Bag Sighting

By |November 23rd, 2012|Clients, Company, News|1 Comment

We absolutely love to see the photos our wonderful clients send us with our drapes, traveller track, and solenoid systems being used out in the world, and see just how clever and creative they can be with our rental goods. However, we also love seeing our bags, hampers, etc. in a more “accidental” fashion, too, like backstage at X-Factor and Dancing With The Stars.

Recently one of our favorite clients AMP’d Entertainment’s owner Arteen Kharrat sent us a fantastic photo of his dog Sadie helping with the “returning process”. They were bringing back one of our scrims they had rented, which was placed inside one of Rent What?’s signature bright neon green bags. Apparently that seemed to be the perfect comfort level and “viewing height” for their precious dog Sadie to sit upon the entire ride over here (almost 30 miles). Looks like Sadie has good taste!! (She and Crispin would have a lot to talk about!). Thanks for sending us this adorable photo, Arteen!

Happy Thanksgiving

By |November 22nd, 2012|Company, Rent What Team, Sew What Team|3 Comments

Another year has passed, and it is Thanksgiving once again.  We have had a lot to be thankful for this year, and I hope that you have as well.

In considering all that I have to be thankful for on a professional level, this year I am most thankful for the wonderful staff that we have here at Sew What? and Rent What?  Without them, we could never be able to provide the exemplary service and products that keep our clients coming back (and referring us to new clients).

  • Marianne, Rent What? Traffic Coordinator, is always available to our clients, making sure that their rental orders arrive to them on time and that rental return shipments are coordinated efficiently (plus she is a great asset as a blog contributor).
  • Michelle, Araceli, Rick and the entire manufacturing and warehouse staff (both Sew What? and Rent What?) are always ready and willing to go the extra mile for our clients, even when it means coming to work early, staying late, and even working on the weekends.  They are truly stars for their dedication to the company and the clients.
  • Our Account Managers Shane, Kimberly, and Gwen go above and beyond to make sure that our clients get the best product as well as the best customer service (Gwen even does double-duty as both a sales and a rentals account manager)
  • Andrea and Anthony in our Graphics Department do a wonderful job of taking client artwork files and converting them into beautiful fabric, vinyl, or mesh backdrops (sometimes as large as 40′ h x 60′ w!)
  • We also couldn’t do it without our terrific support staff – Silvia (Receptionist & HR), Michelle (Purchasing), Tammy and Rosalie (Bookkeeping).  They are the ones who keep the office engines rolling – making sure that the phones are answered, that our staff is happy, that fabric and supplies are on hand, and that our finances (incoming and outgoing) are on track.

So, on behalf of myself (General Manager), Megan (President), and Adam (CFO), I would like to say a big Thank You to the entire Sew What? / Rent What? team.  You guys really are stars!
